YA MATI (MOHOLOHOLO) FACTS AND VISITORS INFORMATION

Moholohlo Ya Mati is situated on the banks of the Blyde River.  Ya Mati is hidden under lush trees, surrounded by beautifully kept lawns and the Blyde River running through it.  Accommodation is offered in luxury self-catering chalets. 

CHALETS:

  • Luxury River Chalet:  3 Bed roomed self-catering chalet.  Fully equipped kitchen with TV in living room, all bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, private swimming pool in boma with braai area and a wooden deck overlooking the Blyde River. 
  • 2 x Luxury Chalets (Mfubu and Ngwenya):  3 Bed roomed self-catering chalets.  Fully equipped kitchen with TV in living room, 2 bathrooms, shared swimming pool, private braai area on wooden deck overlooking the Blyde River.
  • Otter Chalet:  2 Bed roomed self-catering chalet.  Fully equipped kitchen with TV in living room, 2 bathrooms and a private braai area on wooden deck overlooking the Blyde River.
  • Luxury 8 bed Chalet (Nkhwale):  4 Bed roomed self-catering chalet.  Fully equipped kitchen with TV in living room, 3 bathrooms, shared swimming pool, private braai area on wooden deck overlooking the Blyde River.

Ya Mati is well situated as a base to visit many of the other destinations in the Lowveld area like the Panorama Route (via the Abel Erasmus Pass +/- 100 km's), and the Kruger National Park (via Orpen Gate +/- 70 km's).

SUGGESTED ITINERARY:

DAY 1:  DAY OF ARRIVAL

Moholoholo rehab centreSelf drive to Moholoholo Ya Mati in the Hoedspruit region of Mpumalanga province.  Moholoholo offers guests the unique opportunity of a guided tour at the animal rehabilitation centre.  Moholoholo takes care of injured animals and birds, and the ones that can't be re-introduced back into the wild are used to educate visitors to our wildlife's plight for survival.  At the same time one has the unique opportunity of an "up close and personal" experience that would not have been possible in the wild.  A visit to the rehabilitation centre is highly recommended (own expense - not included).    Two tours are offered daily, at 15h00 and 09h00.  The tour lasts about 1 and a half hours.  Ya Mati is within 10 minutes drive of the rehabilitation centre.  Guests can prepare their own meals in the fully equipped kitchen.  For guests who would prefer to have their meals prepared for them at their chalet, please contact us for available menus (own expense - not included).

DAY 2:  DAY AT LEISURE

Boat cruiseGuest can choose to enjoy their breakfast at the tea garden should they not wish to self cater (own expense - not included).  The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the surrounding area.

DAY 3:  DAY OF DEPARTURE

PanoramaDeparture after breakfast, guests can choose to travel back home via either the scenic Panorama route (over the Abel Erasmus Pass), OR via the Kruger National Park (enter through Orpen Gate). 

 

Ya Mati is +/- 450 km's from Johannesburg/Pretoria and +/- 185 km's from Nelspruit (Kruger Mpumalanga International airport nearby for guests who would prefer to fly in and travel with a rental car).
